Western vs. English Riding
Western riding is a style used by working cowboys in the United States, Canada, Central and South America. Also used for pleasure and endurance riding. the Western Saddle and the seat5 position force the rider to adopt a more comfortable seat position for long rides.
Western riding classes emphasis several maneuvers including controlled, collected flying lead changes.
The Western Saddle is distinguished by a large fork on which is placed a horn, a high cantle, and large skirts.
